HPS, E-HPS, MSG, P-EPS, C-EPS: understanding supplier catalogue steering types

The supplier catalogue used by NOVADOMIO Direction PRO classifies applications with labels including HPS, E-HPS, MSG, P-EPS and C-EPS. These labels are useful for filtering the catalogue, but they do not replace checking the OEM reference and the vehicle.

How to use these labels

When a type label appears on a catalogue line, include it in your quote request together with the OEM reference, VIN and photos. This helps distinguish applications that may otherwise look similar.

Do not automatically substitute one type for another

Two applications for similar vehicles should not be assumed interchangeable because their names look similar. The supplier may distinguish hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electric, column-based or other configurations depending on the catalogue line.

Examples from the catalogue

  • Audi Q5: some lines are labelled E-HPS.
  • BMW E90: some applications are labelled HPS.
  • Nissan Qashqai/X-Trail: several generations are labelled MSG.
  • Honda CR-V RM1: one application is labelled P-EPS.
  • Toyota Yaris: some steering-column lines are labelled C-EPS.

The rule to remember

Use the type as catalogue information, then have the application confirmed with OEM + VIN + LHD/RHD before ordering.
