How do you identify the correct steering rack?
The most reliable method is to cross-check several details:

Why the OEM reference is essential
Two steering racks can look almost identical while using different mounts, connectors, sensors or specifications. The OEM reference greatly reduces the risk of an incorrect match. Main steering-system types
HPS — hydraulic power steering
A hydraulic pump provides assistance. The rack, hoses, pump and fluid may all need to be checked during diagnosis.
E-HPS — electro-hydraulic power steering
The system remains hydraulic, but pressure is generated by an electrically driven pump. Some applications involve additional electronics and may require specific checks after replacement.
EPS / MSG — electric power steering
Assistance is generated electrically. Depending on the vehicle, the system may integrate a motor, sensors and steering control electronics. After replacement, diagnostics, basic settings, calibration or reprogramming may be required on some vehicles.
What symptoms can indicate a steering problem?
A steering-rack fault is not the only possible diagnosis. Signs that justify professional inspection can include:
- unusual steering play;
- heavier or inconsistent steering;
- noise while turning;
- hydraulic leakage on HPS/E-HPS systems;
- poor steering-wheel return;
- power-steering warning message;
- fault codes related to steering or angle/torque sensors.
These symptoms can also be caused by other steering or suspension components. Diagnosis is recommended before replacing the rack.
How much does a steering rack cost?
There is no single price. Cost depends on the vehicle, steering type, OEM reference, integrated electronics, supplier availability and freight. Rare or premium applications can be particularly expensive.

It is not recommended. VIN, OEM reference and LHD/RHD configuration significantly reduce the risk of an incorrect match.
Does an OEM reference mean the supplied part is genuine manufacturer equipment?
No. An OEM number may be used as a compatibility reference. The exact nature of the offered part—genuine, remanufactured or aftermarket—must be confirmed in the quotation.
Can I replace a steering rack myself?
Steering is a safety-critical system. Replacement, tightening, wheel alignment and any electronic settings should be performed and checked by a competent professional.
