How to identify a steering rack: OEM reference, VIN, LHD/RHD

Before requesting a steering rack, identify the exact version rather than relying only on the vehicle make. In the NOVADOMIO Direction PRO supplier catalogue, applications are organized by brand, steering type, fitment, OEM reference and LHD/RHD note.

1. Start with the OEM reference

The OEM reference is usually the best starting point because visually similar racks can differ in connectors, mounting or configuration.

  • Audi A4 2001+: 8E1422052.
  • Audi A6 2000-2004: 4B1422066A.
  • BMW E46: 32131094926.
  • BMW X3 E83 2004-2008: 32103413591.
  • Renault Trafic 2002-2020: 8200875897.
  • Ford Focus 2019+: JX6C-3A500-AD.

2. Check LHD or RHD

The catalogue distinguishes LHD and RHD. Do not order based on appearance alone.

3. Prepare the vehicle information

  • make and model;
  • year;
  • engine;
  • VIN / chassis number;
  • OEM reference;
  • LHD/RHD;
  • photos of the rack and label.

4. Steering type matters

The catalogue uses designations including HPS, E-HPS, MSG and selected EPS/column applications. Similar-looking references must not be assumed interchangeable.

5. Why price and shipping are quoted

These parts can be heavy, bulky and expensive. Final pricing depends on the exact reference, supplier availability, quantity, destination, weight/volume and transport method.

6. Genuine OEM or aftermarket?

OEM numbers are compatibility references. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the offered part may be an aftermarket solution compatible with the requested OEM reference.
